These two videos for anyone not a part of the Gospel and Global Media class are great. If you have some time take a look. Maybe you are already one of the 2 million people who have viewed one or both, they are worth a second viewing.

"The Internet is My Religion"
What do you think?
So what do YOU think of Nadia's response? Do you find it persuasive? did she leave out something you were thinking about?
ReplyDeleteTo be totally honest, I expected a little more. I have read her post many times trying to hear what it is she is saying. For me the big question is 'What is religion?' Once we can understand or define what religion means to each of us than we can engage in a conversation. I found a video http://youtu.be/dN1iyJQGrcU where he explains his heart behind the poem Why I Hate Religion but Love Jesus. What I hear in the poem and from the follow up video is that too often in our "religions" we forget about Jesus and we do things that are pleasing, self-fulfilling and inclusive for the folks that join us in those religious circles. My husband has a hard time with "religion" and prefers to only refer to himself as a Christian. He has been damaged by the church and very much relates to hating religion but loving Jesus. So how do we get back to loving Jesus while being religious or is it too late for that? Are there too many negative labels, prosperity preachers and do-it-yourselfer's that have inundated the church? I have been in a church where it is controlled by a power group and not God. Where Jesus is almost an after thought, a cover up for our actions not the reason for them. I believe their is a different and better way that we could do church or religion and I think that all the talk about how the church is dying is because the old church will need to die to itself so that new life can emerge. We are on the verge of some very hard and painful times and yet exciting and life giving as well! I guess there was a lot on my mind!
